Joy and I took a 3 day, 1100 mile Motocycle trip to the 4 corners area. Day 1 is in green, day 2 is in purple and day 3 is in yellow. Not shown is the portion of the ride on I-25 and I-10 between Chaparral and Socorro, NM.
The National Radio Telescope AKA the Very Large Array (VLA). Located on NM 60 between Magdalena and Datil.
Driving into the VLA towards the visitor center.
Joy and I took a walking tour of the observatory.
Man, these things are big!
What in the world are they 'looking' at??
Joy on the walking tour...it was HOT!!
This one started moving while we were standing there. Very cool.
All in a row.
A little sense of scale. Note the couple standing in front of the dish.
There are 27 of them in all.
After the VLA excitement, we had to stop in Pie Town for some....PIE!
What do you think they sell here?
Day 2, we rode up to the 4 corners monument. Where else can you ride a motorcycle through 4 states in 20 seconds? That's Joy waiting in line to get her picture taken.
Joy's got all 4 states covered. Seems to be favoring Utah and Colorado.
What an interesting process. Some family members would wait in line to step onto the monument while others would wait on the raised platform to take their picture.
Joy supporting the local Indians.
This woman was making sand paintings.
Scenery taken from the bike with a disposable point and shoot camera.
Beautiful colors...
