Constellation: Virgo (The Virgin)
Type: Galaxy
Position: RA12h40m
Dec-11d37m
Magnitude: 8.3

10 X 300 sec. ISO 800.  52 degrees.
Processing: Raw images converted to 16bit TIFs, dark subtracted and stacked (average) in ImagesPlus. Levels and curves adjusted in Photoshop.
Digitally removed minor planet 1416 Renauxa from the image (see note below).
Equipment: Meade 10" SCT OTA
Losmandy G-11 Gemini mount.
Modified Canon Digital Rebel (300D)
Guided with SBIG ST-4
Celestron Guidescope
Notes: Unknown to me at the time, minor planet 1416 Renauxa was moving through the frame while the image data was being gathered.  Although the asteroid was digitally removed from this still image, an animation showing the asteroid's movement (3.88 megabytes) is available.  There is a gap in the middle of the animation because I stopped imaging to allow some clouds to roll through.
