Date: 1/10/05
Equipment: Canon Digital Rebel (modified)
Orion 80ED with a Celestron reducer working at approximately f/4.7

Exposure: 2 X 180sec  ISO 800
Processing: Images were calibrated and processed in ImagesPlus.  Final curves adjustment in Photoshop.
Notes: This image was shot through high thin clouds.
After setting up to shoot the comet, I only got 2 three minute images before it got too cloudy.  After processing the images, I noticed a faint smudge at the top of the image.  It turns out the comet was passing close to NGC 1333, a  reflection nebula in Perseus.
Guiding was done on the comet nucleus.  This brings out greater detail in the comet's tail(s) but causes the stars to trail.
